
All ceramics would need to be formed to the precise shape of the final shell and so models of this ‘final’ shell, ten percent larger to allow for shrinkage were constructed. Once modelled the work was cut into tile sized pieces ready for numbering, firing and glazing.
Swim-through Shell
A sculptural shell is suspended at one end of an oval indoor pool, connecting the inside and outside pool spaces.
This handmade structure forms a ‘magical’ canopy lavishly decorated with mother-of-pearl lustres and echoing with every splash and sound as swimmers pass beneath.
